Indie rock icons The Mountain Goats have been all the rage in wrestling circles with their album Beat the Champ, an entire collection of songs dedicated to the art of professional wrestling. It's been drawing rave reviews, not just for the musical craftsmanship that Mountain Goat fans keep telling the world about, but also for the dedication to the theme. The video for the track "The Legend of Chavo Guerrero" takes said devotion to a whole other level. Peep it after the jump:

Yes, the cast of wrestlers in that video is incredible. Joey Ryan and Ray Rosas repping the SoCal scene would have been enough. Ryan Nemeth adding a bit of NXT/WWE visibility to the fray builds upon that ground layer. Rob Corddry, not a wrestler, but kind of a big freakin' deal in comedic acting right now, is another solid piece to the puzzle, but getting Chavo Guerrero, Sr., Chavo BAH GAWD Classic? Yeah, this video goes all out, man. Of course, you can catch lead singer John Darnielle in the middle throw in a homage to CM Punk and the "pipe bomb" promo in there as another Easter egg too.

This video not only is a must watch for wrestling fans, it may make a Mountain Goats fan out of you yet. This was my first real exposure to the band, and I have to say, the lyrical content and layering is superb, and the guitar riffs are super catchy. I think I might have to go out and get Beat the Champ at my earliest convenience.
